I don't have a favorite aspect ratio (AR) for this weave yet. The calculated minimum AR for this weave is 1 + sqrt(13), or 4.606. I'll usually just aim to use rings with an AR around 5. This works out to:
14 ga. (.080) x .400 (about 3/8) I.D.
16 ga. (.062) x .310 (about 5/16) I.D.
18 ga. (.045) x .225 (about 1/4) I.D.
20 ga. (.032) x .160 (about 5/32) I.D.
22 ga. (.025) x .125 (about 1/8) I.D.
24 ga. (.020) x .100 (about 3/32) I.D.
Steps 1 - 8 require (12) rings.
Instructions
For this instruction set, new rings are gold, existing but moving rings are cyan, and existing stationary rings are silver.
1. Make a 1-3 chain.
2. Move the center ring to the left.
3. Create a 1-2 chain.
4. Move the 1-2 chain into place as shown.
5. Add a ring (through 3 existing rings, in-between 2 others).
6. Create a 1-2 chain.
7. Move the 1-2 chain into place as shown.
8. Add a ring (through 3 existing rings, in-between 2 others).
9. If you look at the right end of the chain, you'll notice that the end is the same as it is in Step 2. Keep on repeating steps 3 through 8 until the chain is as long as required.
